Being Neighbors

Do you think we might collectively gather some thoughts on what it means to be neighbors? I think that, at times, we may each inadvertently do things that are irritating or offensive to others. My guess is that we may not always be clear in our image of what our part should be in making for a good community. We are all invested in our homes, even if we only rent and we each play a part in keeping the worth of Wingspread high. When an individual trashes our community it effects us all. We can each play a role in maintaining a high standard for our community and we can all keep an eye out for those who don't seem to care.

To that end I'd like to start a thread. Here are a couple of things that I suggest and I would hope that each of you will add your thoughts or observations. Just write your comments and I'll try to add them to the list.

1. On trash day and recycling day it would be nice if we did not completely block the sidewalk with our trashbags as some people use those walks.

2. Also on those days...... if it looks like it may be windy, make sure your trash is bundled well so that it does not blow all over.

3. Littering is as bad in Wingspread as it is on the highway. If you pick up the one or two little pieces of litter and drop them in your trash it stops the progression of litter that leads to a major problem. Neighborhoods go down hill when folks let problems like trash mount. BTW...is your deck and back area beginning to look like a mini-dump?

4. Many folks go to bed fairly early and appreciate it when we hold the noise down late in the evening.

5. I'm sorry but those ruts in the grass from vehicles are most likely put there by kids and they cost us all money, as time is spent doing repairs. If you think your youth is involved in that sort of thing maybe a little talk on responsibility is in order.

6. Those of us who have dogs should interpret the sign "Curb Your Dog" to mean "Don't let your dog poop on the grass or where people walk and always clean up the plop immediately". That is the small price we pay for having and loving our pets.

there's a start. now it's your turn.
