Landscape Committee

A new committee has been established for the community. Their charge is to oversee and monitor many of the outdoor issues here in Wingspread. They have been asked to advise the Board on things like lawn management, weed control, planting, water drainage, our trails and paths, as well as the overgrowth of our wooded areas. They will also bring new expertise to matters where fairly significant expenditures are required to improve some problems that are plaguing residents.

Ron Dorrell has agreed to serve as chair and working with him are Marge Eshelman, Ruth Hunsinger, Bob Fies and Gloria Lutz. Of course, there is room for you if you have an interest or special knowledge along these lines. Just contact a committee or Board member.

Incident Report

Incident Report

Before dark on Tuesday, June 14th the resident at 14 Windsor saw a blue metallic car stop on Wingspread Drive at the intersection of Walton and open the door and then apparently dump something onto the medial strip and then drive away.

A short time later another car stopped in the same spot and the driver got out and called to her asking her to call 911. He said there was a fire. Instead, the resident filled an empty trash can with water and dragged it down in and effort to put out the fire. This helped but did not completely quench the fire and so 911 was called.

The resident continued to bring water to the scene and managed to contain and then extinguish the burning mulch. The police arrived and the incident was reported to them. No real damage seems to have occurred and it was the quick thinking and action of the resident that spared us any problem.

Our guess is that the driver of the first car had set his ashtray ablaze and simply dumped it into the mulch not recognizing how dry conditions are. No police action is expected.

Editor's Note

The next issue of the community newsletter is expected to be out by mid-July. If you have input or suggestions you should talk to Mickey Getty before Jul 8th. The first issue was great and we all look forward to the next offering. Thanks Mickey...

Thanks GOOD Neighbors

We all owe much appreciation to several fine neighbors who took some time to work in the dirt on a warm day on Saturday. Our Wingspread certainly looks better thanks to the efforts of:
Marge Eschelman
Glori Lutz
Joan Frederick
Ruth Hunsinger
Mickey and Lou Getty
of course Jan Schell would have been there if she hadn't broken her arm.

While we are at giving thanks, take a moment to extend your thanks to Larry Schell and Lou Benedict who did great work while serving the community on our Board.

Help Beautify Wingspread

Flowers are scheduled to be planted in the common areas on Saturday morning, June 4, 9;00 AM, meeting at Walton Court. Marge Eshleman and Gloria Lutz are in charge. A number of people have been called and invited to help them. So far only two people are even possibilities. They may buy fewer plants and plant them at fewer places, and they may plant Thursday or Friday at their convenience. If you want to see your community beautified with flowers and can possibly help plant, or know someone who will, call them and then call Marge 610-779-0361 or Gloria 610-779-1772 as soon as possible.
